Atarabazar es cuando las leches se cuajan, pero no precisamente la leche entera, quiero decir, la leche que no ha sido privada de sus natas o grasas, ya que cuando esto sucede, se denomina lleichi cuátcha (leche cuajada). Pero se llama tarabazá a la leche que con anterioridad ha sido mazá (batida), con el fin de extraerle la manteca. Para mazar el lleiche (sacarle la manteca a la leche), en los tiempos d'endenantes se hacía por medio de dos procedimientos en mis aldeas. Uno era usando las caramañolas ou camtimples (lecheras) y el otro el más ancestral, dentro de unos odres hechos con el pelleyu (pellejo) de corderos o cabritos, denominados butiétchus, donde se introducía la leche dentro de ellos, se hinchaban de aire y luego se movía el butiétchu siempre en la misma dirección hasta que se le arrancaba la manteca a la leche. Más tarde esa leche mazá escosá de manteiga cundu chegaba ‘l cuátchu yera cundu se nomaba chétche tarabazá. (Batida y limpia de manteca, cuando llegaba a cuajar se le llamaba leche tarabazá). Esta leche tarabazá al decir de las gentes más antiguas de mis aldeas, que todas tenían algo de médicos, por ser éstos tan escasos e inalcanzables, cuento que decían mis gentes que la leche tarabazá era la bebida más sana y refrescante, capaz de curar por sí sola, tous lus amolexíus del ventrún ya 'l estómadu. (Todos los males del vientre y el estómago). Esta palabra me da pie para contarles muy someramente lo que hizo un tío mío, hermano de mi madre, una mañana que apremiado por su esposa, mazaba sudorosamente un butiétchu de leche. Llamábase mi tío que ya en la paz del Hacedor descansa, Manuel el Indiano, y a pesar de ser del todo analfabeto, sabía más letra que el propio Cervantes, y era más agudo que el panzudo Sancho. Más de catorce años había estado en La Argentina, y al fin como todo buen asturiano retornó a su querida aldea, cuando yo aun todavía no había nacido. Pero según mi madre, hizo mi tío la entrada triunfal en la aldeina dándoselas de indiano rico, y al parecer según se descubrió más tarde, no traía en su poder nada más que una pequeña cantidad de dinero que le había dado otro tío mío también hermano de mi madre, que éste sí que había hecho una caudalosa fortuna, criando ganado en un extenso rancho, que al decir de mi tío Manuel, era más grande que todo nuestro concejo junto. Rondaba los cuarenta años cuando mi tío, portando dos enormes maletas, una sonrisa amplia y prometedora, que no la haría por el bien que le habían rodado sus asuntos, sino tal vez por enseñar a propios y extraños, su fuerte y hermosa dentadura, donde se enseñoreaban una docena de relucientes dientes de oro que unido a su enorme reloj y su gruesa cadena de oro, le avalaban como indiano bétchau de cuartus. (Rico de dineros). Muy posible mi tío, deduzco yo ahora, al comprender que en las américas no podía, o no sabía hacer la riqueza que había con tanto ahínco buscado, maduró en aquellas lejanas tierras la inteligente idea, de lograr conquistar en sus aldeas, alguna moza heredera de rica casería. Así pues, según mi madre, mi tío se paseaba y pavoneaba por toda la comarca, luciendo estupendos trajes de corte y moda muy americanos, a la par que hacía entrever con mucho disimulo, que poseía negocios en La Argentina, donde retornaría nada más que encontrase una linda muchacha que fuera de su agrado, para convertirla sin pérdida de tiempo en su esposa. Y como diñéiru chama 'l diñeiru (dinero llama al dinero) pronto mi tío lograba casarse con la moza más rica de la aldea, que era tal riqueza en aquellos tiempos, prados, tierras y ganados, cosas que hoy se encuentran en mis aldeas abandonados. Una vez casado el bueno de mi tío, volvía a inventarse otra historia, que era que la revolución que por aquella época se había formado en La Argentina, se apropiara de sus negocios y le habían dejado completamente sin nada. A partir de aquí poco a poco su esposa ayudaba abiertamente por su suegro que se veía en lenguas mofosas de las gentes y se consideraba que también había sido engañado, digo que entre hija y padre le fueron sometiendo y dominando, y aunque mi tío en principio intentó imponerse y hacer valer su papel de marido, de nada le sirvió, y tuvo que someterse a la tiranía continua a que le sometían su mujer y suegro, sino quería perder lo que tan hábilmente había cazado. Extenderme más en cosas de mi tío, seria fomentar una larga historia que no cuadra en este libro que ha nacido para diccionario, por eso retornaré a la mañana por mi presenciada, en que el bueno de mi tío mazaba la leche sudoroso y desesperado, atacado en todo instante por la continua riña de su esposa, que con la chingüa mexoriaba per él, lu mesmu que se fora un enllordiáu fatu. (Que con la lengua le hacía mucho daño al tratarle como si fuese un verdadero pingajo). Aquel día era lunes, y por lo tanto habla mercado como todas las semanas en la capital del concejo, a donde todas las aldeanas bajaban a vender los huevos, la manteca, los cuayaus (cuajados), etc., etc., y mercar a la vez los enreus (cosas) que se necesitaban para toda la semana. Ya era tarde y mi tía necesitaba aquella última manteca que mi tío con tanto trabajo estaba mazando, y como tardaba según mi tía más de la cuenta, empezó a insultarle de esta manera: —Entaina Manolu, ya deíxate de carpir, ya amazuca la lleiche con más priexa, perque paeme a mín que yes más ñatiu qu'un neniquín d'entamu. (Apúrate Manolo, déjate de protestar, de suspirar, de quejarte, y bate la leche con más prisa, porque me parece a mí, que eres más inútil que un niño de pecho). Nada le respondió mi tío, aunque seguía haciendo su trabajo maldiciendo y murmarando palabras que no entendía, pero otra vez volvió su esposa a la carga diciéndole: —Nun se xempre lu dixe you, que nun tenes llixa namái que pa xurniar trés el fuéu estingarraún nel escanu, ya p'encalducar mamplenáus de puches ya gavitus. (No si siempre lo he dicho yo, que no tienes fuerza, alma, etc., nada más que para estar dormitando detrás del fuego acostado en el escaño, y para hacer muchos razonamientos, protestas y cuentos sin ningún valor). Mi tío no le respondía a sus insultos y el pobre seguía mazando la leche sin detenerse, y de vez en cuando le daba pequeños golpecitos al butiétchu (odre) mirándole al trasluz, para comprobar si ya estaba la manteca hecha. Otra goxada (cesta grande) de ofensivos insultos le lanzó mi tía de esta forma en el parejo que se estaba atando el moño:—Non pos comu nun me faigas la mazaura lluéu, xúrutelu pe lu más xagráu qu'ista semana vas fumaretiar pel ráu del bracu, perque nun tenu treti 'l tabacu de la Villa axín nus esmuelguemus a tochazus. (No pues como no me hagas la manteca luego, te lo juro por lo más sagrado que toda esta semana vas a fumar por el rabo del cerdo, porque no he de traerte el tabaco de la Villa así nos degollemos a palos). —Quiero destacar, que si algún vicio desencaldaba (desarmaba) a mi tío, era precisamente el de ser un fumador empedernido, ya que yo le he visto en muchas ocasiones fumar hasta las hojas de los artos y de las patatas, pues él afirmaba, que tales hojas bien mauras y'enxuchinas (bien maduras y muy secas), tenían un ligero parecido con el tabaco. Por tal razón, cuando escuchó a su esposa amenazarle con que no le iba traer el tabaco para la semana, se sulfuró de tal modo y manera, que cesando de mazar, se levantó airado de encima del garbetu (tronco nudoso de madera donde se suele partir la leña) donde en la caleya 'l lláu de sou teixá taba xentáu mazuchandu (en la calleja al lado de su casa estaba sentado haciendo la manteca) y dirigiéndose endemoniadamente rabioso hacia su mujer con el butiétchu (odre) entre sus manos, que tendría dentro de él sobre unos diez litros de leche, digo, que levantando con enloquecida fuerza el odre con entrambas manos en el alto, se lo estrapachóu (reventó) en medio de la cabeza, poniéndola toda enllordá ya pingandu de lleiche (sucia y mojada de leche), en el parexu lleldar que che falaba. (El peor y más ruin negocio que hice en toda mi vida, fue el haberme unido contigo en este hediondo casorio que me ha aconsejado el demonio, enredadora y mala mujer, con la lengua más sucia que la porquería del cerdo, hija del buitre de tu padre, que Lucifer estará en los infiernos quemándole los negros hígados que tenía.    A raiz de su boda con Joan Howard, hija de Moe, uno de los tres miembros del trio comico The Three Stooges, dedica lo mejor de su tiempo a su suegro y los compinches de este, escribiendo, produciendo e incluso dirigiendo no pocas de sus aventuras. Hay que entender, por tanto, que el resto de su labor en el cine sea secundario. Dirige un total de cuatro intrascendentes peliculas.
